Devil in the Ivory Tower by Anne-Marie Brumm

A double murder on a quiet state university in New Jersey hurls the entire community into chaos. The focus is on two young female “rising stars” in the English department— Erica Meyer and Albertina LoCascio Wolfson. Interspersed also throughout the novel are vignettes revealing an insider’s view of the ivory tower. There are betrayals, lies, jealousy, fraud, and other negative behaviors among faculty and students, which complicate and cloud the scene.

   With its very engaging prose, Devil in the Ivory Tower takes us on a penetrating journey into the groves of academe while its clever plotting provides us with a page-turning thriller. It is also a heart warming story about the nature of relationships, friendship and family.  The novel should not only be welcomed by those mired in the towers of ivory but by all who seek and wish for a novel that both entertains and enlightens.
